Day 2
We have had a brilliant day - the weather has been perfect, if not a little warm at times. We have been well fed and all of the children have eaten well - cooked breakfast, burger etc for lunch and now chicken tortillas for dinner, as well as lots of salad and fruit. Both groups have taken the "Leap of Faith", zipped down a wire, practised our Robin Hood archery shots, were blindfolded around Nightline and lasered to our heart content in the Laser Zone. All of the children and staff have set themselves and then exceeded their personal targets. The children have been a pleasure to be with today and are now becoming very tired (which the adults do not mind at all!)
We have a Campfire to look forward to a little later.

Monday 6.50pm
We have had a lovely day. The weather has been glorious. We arrived in Portsmouth way ahead of schedule as traffic was very light on the A303. We managed to catch an earlier ferry. The crossing was a bit choppy but we still managed to eat our lunch. When we arrived at Kingswood it was very quiet as we were the first school to arrive. But we have had a good tour round, met our leader who is called Ollie and have all settled into our rooms. We have managed to make our beds but some of the boys will need to work on the duvets a little more before bedtime. We have just had a scrummy tea - a choice of pasta bolognese or meatballs and rice. There were chips, potato wedges and garlic bread available. Some of us even managed to place salad on our plates as well. Or was that just the teachers! Ice cream was dessert and then we sang happy birthday to Emily and had a slice of her delicious cake. Thanks Mrs Gidding! Our first activity is indoor climbing and then Scapheap Challenge. After all of that, the teachers are hoping for an early night!!!!!
We will try to update you every day but just to let every mum and dad know we are already having a wonderful time.

On Sunday 11th September, seven Urchfont pupils sold strawberry (and one tomato!) plants at Urchfont food festival. Some of the plants were grown by pupils at the school and some were kindly donated by parents. We raised £32.59, which will now go to improving the school garden even more. We were judged at the festival by a Masterchef finalist, who awarded us a close second place. Next year we aim to have more variety in our plants in order to win- well done to Five Lanes School who had strawberry, raspberry and blackberry plants. Thank you to the children who helped on the day, you were excellent sellers! Also thank you to all the parents who supported us with the event.
Look out for our daily posts on what we will be getting up to on our residential to the IOW.
