Welcome to the summer term Chaffinches!
We will be learning all about the Great Fire of London this term- which follows on nicely from last term as we discovered lots about our capital city.
We will look at primary and secondary sources of evidence to put the pieces together and discover the timeline of events, the causes of the fire, significant individuals and we will learn the consequences of the tragic event. Take a look at our theme table for more information. As part of our theme, ‘The Great Fire of London,’ we will create Tudor houses and think about how they might burn down. Please could we ask for donations of boxes especially cereal boxes* in the first week back after Easter. We will also look at mixing colours to create a fiery silhouette picture. As the fire started in a bread oven, we will make bread and write a set of instructions. We are very lucky to be welcoming Mr Mundell in to class to help us male bridges this term. He will help us to develop some joining techniques and design and make a bridge using wood and other materials.
This term our Science theme will be plants. We will be identifying the different parts of flowering plants, predicting what will happen in an investigation and making observations.
We will also identify the main stages of the life cycle of flowering plants.
Our PE days this term will be Mondays and Wednesdays. Mrs Reynolds will teach gymnastics on a Monday and Mr Herring will teach tennis on a Wednesday. Please remember to bring in your sun hat if necessary.
We will be sharing some of our learning over the past few terms in a sharing assembly on 17th May. Parents are invited to come and watch. More information will be sent out via Weduc nearer the time.
